The 26-year-old playback singer became a household name after he emerged as one of the top six contestants in the reality-singing series, Fame Gurukul, in 2005.

Despite failing to win, fans and critics quickly took notice and Singh was soon appearing in television shows and lending his voice to a number of hit tunes. Singh's song, Tum Hi Ho, served as one of the soundtracks of the 2013 Bollywood blockbuster Aashiqui 2, and was widely praised by music critics and listeners.
