The Experience

Thrill seekers can get on a motorbike to see the various faces of the Himalayas and visit hill stations and ancient temples. This 12-day tour starts with a stay in Delhi and an overnight bus journey to Manali where travellers hit the road to experience roller coaster-like climbing up and down the passes and moonscape mountain scenery. Daily breakfast and dinner are included.

The Itinerary

Day 1 - Arrival in Delhi

  • Arrival in Delhi and transfer to Hotel Crest Inn for an overnight stay

Day 2 - Delhi – Manali

  • After breakfast, head to Old Delhi to take a rickshaw ride at Chandi Chowk and explore the narrow alleys, colourful markets, and shops with local crafts
  • Visit Jama Mosque, one of the largest in Asia
  • Drive past the iconic Red Fort dating back to 1648 and see Raj Ghat, a memorial of Mahatma Gandhi
  • Proceed to New Delhi to visit Humayun’s Tomb and see the India Gate and Qutub Minar, the president’s house
  • In the evening, transfer to Valvo bus station to board a bus for Manali; overnight on board

Day 3 - Manali

  • Arrival to Manali bus station and transfer to a hotel
  • Join a bike session in the afternoon for a briefing about the road safety and high altitude concern and motorbikes handover
  • Test the motorbike on a short ride 
  • Overnight stay in Hotel Satkar Residency

Day 4 - Manali – Rohtang Pass – Jispa (138 km – 5 hours)

  • Wake up early in the morning to hit one of the world’s highest roads, the Manali-Leh highway
  • Right after Manali, a climb for the 13,051 feet-high Rohtang Pass starts; after Rohtang, the road descends into the Chandra Valley, passing through Khoksar and on to Tandi and Jispa
  • Overnight stay at a Tent Jispa (Jispa Journey Camp or Ibex)

Day 5 - Jispa - Baralacha Pass - Sarchu (85 km – 3 hours)

  • Leave the lush surroundings peppered with lakes, waterfalls and streams and proceed to Ladakh famous for its stark moonscape scenery
  • Cross the second high altitude pass, Baralach La, at 16,500 feet
  • Overnight stay in tents with attached toilets at Sarchu (Tented Camp)

Day 6 - Sarchu - La chunga La - Tanglang La Pass - Leh (250 km – 7 hours)

  • Hit the roller coaster-like section of Manali-Leh highway climbing up and down from one pass to another; ride up and down three high altitude passes, Lachlung La (16,616 feet), Nakee La (15,547 feet) and Taglang la (17,480 feet), the second highest motorable pass in the world
  • Finish the ride in the ancient city of Leh (Snow Lion or Himalayan Heritage)

Day 7 - Leh - Khardung La pass - Nubra Valley (160 km – 6 hours)

  • After breakfast, cross the world’s highest motorable pass Khardung La, set at the altitude of 18,480 feet
  • Take in the mountain views and decent to Nubra Valley considered as the coldest desert
  • Overnight stay in a tent with an attached toilet (at Tented Camp)

Day 8 - Nubra - Khardung La - Leh (160 km – 6 hours)

  • Follow the same route to get back to Leh
  • Opt for a break to take a camel ride at sand dunes of Nubra Valley (additional charge, payable on site applies)
  • Stay in Leh Hotel (Snow Lion or Himalayan Heritage)

Day 9 - Leh – Pangong - Leh (135 km – 4 hours)

  • Take a break from the motorbike and take a tempo traveller Pangong Lake excursion; in a car, pass through the third highest motorable pass in the world, the Chang La pass set at 17,586 feet altitude; descent from Chang La to see the plains of Changthang opening up and marvel at the pristine, 135 km-long, Pangong Tso Lake
  • In the evening, drive back to Leh (Snow Lion or Himalayan Heritage)

Day 10 - Leh - Tanglang La - Sarchu (250 km – 7-9 hours)

  • Take a ride through Leh and Tanglang La to Sarchu, following the same route
  • Overnight stay at the same tent in Sarchu

Day 11 - Sarchu - Manali (233 km – 7-9 hours)

  • Take a long ride from Sarchu to Manali
  • Hand over the motorbike and check in to the hotel
  • Receive a certificate for completing this excursion *Overnight stay in Hotel Satkar Residency

Day 12 - Manali - Delhi (510 km – overnight)

  • Enjoy some leisure time after breakfast, before an evening transfer to Manali bus station to board a Volvo vehicle for a journey to Delhi; overnight on board

Day 13 – Delhi

  • Arrival in Delhi at around 8-9am, depending on traffic
  • Transfer to Delhi International Airport; the tour finishes
