The Experience
Global Holidays & Incentives invites adventurers to ascend the Africa’s highest mountain, Mount Kilimanjaro, with a choice of two routes to choose from. The Marangu Route, also known as the Coca-Cola Route, is the most popular route, taking 5 days to complete, and climbers stay in huts that are fitted with beds. The Machame Route, also known as the Whiskey Route, is the second most popular with longer hiking distances taking 6 days to complete, but offering more scenic views. On this route, climbers sleep in tents.
Marangu Route Itinerary (for less active people)
- Day 1: Arrive at the base hotel for dinner and overnight stay
- Day 2: Breakfast. Transfer from the lodge to Kilimanjaro National Park Gate at Marangu. From here trek through the lush forest to Mandara Hut (2,750 m). Overnight at Mandara Hut
- Day 3: Leaving the forest, trek along a good path through open grassy moorlands to reach Horombo Hut (3,700 m). Overnight at Horombo Hut
- Day 4: Continue ascending past the “Last Water” point to reach the Saddle, a dry area between the peaks of Kibo and Mawenzi (4,700 m). Overnight at Kibo Hut
- Day 5: An early start for the walk up a steep and heavy scree to reach Gillman’s Point (5681 m) in time for sunrise. From here it is possible to continue to Uhuru Peak (5,895 m), the highest point Africa. Afterwards descend to Horombo Hut. Overnight at Horombo Hut
- Day 6: Descend to the park gate. Transfer back to the base hotel for dinner and overnight stay
- Day 7: Breakfast at the hotel. End of tour
Machame Route Itinerary (for fit people)
- Day 1: Arrive at the base hotel for dinner and overnight stay
- Day 2: Breakfast. Transfer from the Lodge to Kilimanjaro National Park Gate at Machame. From here trek through the lush forest to Machame Hut (3,000 m). Overnight at Machame Camp
- Day 3: Leaving the forest, the path follows a steep ridge passing through heather and open moorlands and crossing a large gorge to reach Shira Hut (3,800m). Overnight at Shira Camp
- Day 4: Turn eastwards and continue ascending through the dry landscape before dropping again to reach Barranco (3,900 m). Overnight at Barranco Camp
- Day 5: The path climbs steeply out of Barranco Valley, crosses the Karanga Valley and turns north to reach Barafu Hut (4,600 m). Overnight at Barafu Camp
- Day 6: A long day and an early start to reach the crater rim at Stella Point in time for sunrise. Continue on to Uhuru Peak (5,895 m), the highest point in Africa. Descend to Barafu and down on to Mweka (3,000 m). Overnight at Mweka Camp
- Day 7: Descend to the park gate. Transfer back to base hotel in Kilimanjaro for dinner and overnight stay
- Day 8: Breakfast at the hotel. End of tour

Visa not included for certain nationalities. Tanzania Visa can be easily obtained at the Dar es Salaam or Zanzibar Airport for $50 per person supplement.
