What a brilliant day with my family! Booking process - I booked through Groupon knowing there was come back if something went wrong - there are so many to chose from! I WhatsApp’d the company before buying to ensure they could pick us up in Yas Island for a little extra rather than getting to a pick up point after what I knew would be a tiring day. Great communication and you send the codes direct to the company in advance. On the day we received a text from our driver Sami who arrived early and was very polite. On the day: We were taken into the desert by Sami before moving into Arrif’s car for the off road sand driving. I was concerned what some of my party would think of this due to not being as adventurous as me but there was no need to worry, they absolutely loved it! Arrif stopped the car and took some fun and really lovely photos for us and gave us all some bottled water. He could tell we were having fun and asked us if we wished to pay extra for quad biking. We said yes and he headed to camp. At camp we were offered to upgrade to the VIP section which for us was definitely worth it. There is no pressure to do this but we liked the idea of eating earlier and having a couch to sit on during the shows. We were shown around camp and told what was included and what incurred an additional fee. Most of our party decided to buy headscarves which started at 50 AED. My husband and I had brought scarves and they kindly fitted ours. Two of our party also chose to hold a falcon. After using the toilet (actual flushing toilet with running water to wash hands), we headed out on the quad bikes. I was a little disappointed that it was a restricted area you were allowed in but to be fair you get a good amount of time and my family absolutely loved this too! I’ve previously done quad biking in the desert but it was fun to watch and ride on the back with my son. We walked over to the camel area and a few of our party took advantage of the taster session which was enough for us, we are not a huge fan of camels! The sand boarding was disappointing as we couldn’t get any speed up but we had enjoyed the quads and decided to walk back into camp for us ladies to get some henna. My daughter decided to upgrade to the larger piece for an extra 25 AED and her hand is beautiful. My sister and I were pleased with the standard. The buffet was open but we decided to take advantage of the sunset and walked out of camp for some memorable photos, knowing our seating was secured and we could relax. On returning, we helped ourselves to the unlimited bottle water, Coca Cola and coffee along with a variety of buffet dishes and bbq meat. The food was delicious and there was a bolognese for fussier eaters. Please note that VIPs eat earlier and seemed to have much more choice. We relaxed and watched the three shows with the fire being very impressive as was the second act but I won’t spoil it. Sami took us home at the end of the night and it was a quiet journey back with a lot of closed eyes! Good value for money.
