This test determines whether or not your blood glucose level is within normal ranges. This test is used to screen for, diagnose, and monitor diabetes, pre-diabetes, and hypoglycemia (low blood glucose). For most accurate results, an 8-hour fasting period is recommended.
Coronary Heart Disease (Cholesterol, Triglyserides, HDL, LDL.) :
The lipid profile is recommended for anyone who seeks to assess their risk for heart disease. It includes cholesterol levels, triglycerides, HDL & LDL, The Cholesterol/HDL ratio is especially important in identifying risk. A normal ratio indicates a normal risk for heart disease. For most accurate results, a 10-hour fasting period is recommended.
Kidney Function Test
(Uric Acid, Urea, Creatinin, NA, K, CL, Amylase)
The usual blood test which checks that the kidneys are working properly measures the level of urea, creatinine, and certain dissolved salts.
Urea is a waste product formed from the breakdown of proteins. Urea is usually passed out in the urine. A high blood level of urea ('uraemia') indicates that the kidneys may not be working properly, or that you are dehydrated (have a low body water content).
